Maidstone friends set to prove that the famous ad campaign is true, you meet the nicest people on a Honda.

First introduced in 1958 the Honda C90 cub boasted many good qualities that have since turned it into a classic. It was affordable, lightweight and easily repairable. It’s well suited to nipping around urban areas, exploring cities or commutes, but not the kind of bike you’d take on a 2000 mile round trip from Maidstone to the South of France and back again. After all, it’s only capable of top speeds of 55 miles per hour.
Enter Chris and Jason, a pair of Maidstone-local friends and bike enthusiasts with a dream. To ride from the Medway to the Mediterranean and jump in the sea. The two are no strangers to raising money for charity with intrepid challenges. Amongst their list of achievements, they’ve: paddled the Thames in Canadian canoes; cycled around London on Boris bikes (in dresses!); climbed Snowdon; raced mountain bikes for 24 hours; and rowed and cycled 100 miles in a day… But even they admit their latest endeavour is ‘daft with a capital D’.
Having both recently lost loved ones, Chris and Jason started the ‘Med 2 Med’ campaign in hopes of raising £2500 for the Alzheimer’s Society and the Stroke Association and they’re well on their way to achieving their goal. Set for the 23 August to 5 September 2021 (pandemic permitting) they’re keeping their luggage light and their route loose, with a few meaningful stops along the way- and most definitely avoiding the motorways!
Follow the progress of this most epic adventure on two wheels and sponsor a very worthy cause! The socials are kept well up to date in the lead up to the departure with everything from camping gear to bike tests and a VERY inspiring rock ‘n’ ride music playlist. There’s even talk of a ‘Born to be Wild’ cover song named Bjorn to be Mild…
