Andy Schooledge was joined on the Maidstone Radio breakfast show by Peter Colmer, to talk about a free concert that has been organised at the St Mary of Charity Church in Faversham by two members of the Ukraine Philharmonic orchestra.
Igor and Oleksii will be on their magnificent full size button accordions and are hoping to raise money in support of the Hippokrat charity based near Chernihiv. Peter Colmer will also accompany them on a lovely old Bluethner grand piano!
There will be a retiring collection and people will have an opportunity to make a donation for this very worthwhile cause which attempts to care for the survivors and the extended families of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and now other local survivors of the current conflict.
Every single penny raised will go directly to the charity, via the musicians when they get back home.
The free concert takes place at 7:30PM on 13 August 2022: St Mary of Charity Church, Church St. Faversham
Just turn up and enjoy the masterful musicianship of two members of the Ukraine Philharmonic orchestra playing for your pleasure and in support of the Hippokrat charity based near Chernihiv which is one of the areas which was shelled mercilessly in the early days of this war.
